New Year's Resolution: Lighten Up 4 Life
<p>The McDowell Hospital and several community partners launched their new program, <i>Lighten Up 4 Life</i>, Monday, January 4<sup>th</sup> at the YMCA. Among those present at the launch were members of both the County and City Council, who offered a New Year’s Proclamation and Resolution respectively, in support of <i>Lighten Up 4 Life</i>.</p> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">This program is designed to be a county-wide weight-loss and physical well-being program, complete with competing teams and prizes. <i>Lighten Up 4 Life</i> is set up on a trimester schedule; our first trimester will run from January 4<sup>th</sup> to April 23<sup>rd</sup>. At the end of each trimester, prizes will be awarded to the top team, and at the end of the full year, we will award the top three teams as well as the leading individual. </div> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"> </div> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">Participants can join the program by going to the website <a href="http://www.lightenup4life.com/mcdowell"><font color="#800080">www.lightenup4life.com/mcdowell</font></a> and joining either as an individual entry or as a team of four; we strongly encourage the team approach as it offers support and a positive competitive spirit.</div> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"> </div> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">The website will be the resource center during the program; online participants can find helpful recipes and nutrient tips, as well as exercise classes or walking and running groups throughout the county.
