The staff and physicians at McDowell Hospital are dedicated to ensuring that you are safe, comfortable and receive quality care during your inpatient or outpatient treatment. If you have any complaints or questions, we want to know so that we can help resolve the problem. Please don’t hesitate to tell us if you have any concerns about patient care or safety issues.
Please follow these steps to report a concern:
- Talk to your attending nurse or unit supervisor. This is the first step so that we can take care of any problems while you’re here in the hospital.
- Report complaints to the Department Director or Administrator. Dial “0” on any hospital phone, or call 828-659-5000, and ask to speak with the “administrator on call.” Someone will promptly return your call.
- Report complaints using our online form. This may take a little longer than if you place a phone call or talk to the nurse, but we will reply and work to deal with your concerns.
- If your concern is not resolved through hospital administration, you may report the problem to our accrediting agency—The Joint Commission—or the NC Division of Health Services Regulation.
The McDowell Hospital will not take retaliatory action against anyone who reports quality concerns to The Joint Commission.
